Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: PlayerKit at 5.0 against Teak Browser's 4.5. PlayerKit also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 17.0). Teak Browser's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 50%) and ratings volume (43 vs 5). On price, update cadence, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Teak Browser sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. PlayerKit asks for nothing beyond the download.
PlayerKit holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Teak Browser has 43 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of PlayerKit's written reviews are positive against 71% of Teak Browser's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
PlayerKit ships an update every 3 weeks, Teak Browser every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
