Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: 2D Battle Simulator at 88% against Fantasy Battle Simulator's 50%. Fantasy Battle Simulator's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Fantasy Battle Simulator holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 15 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Fantasy Battle Simulator's written reviews are positive against 88% of 2D Battle Simulator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Fantasy Battle Simulator ships an update every 5 months, 2D Battle Simulator every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
