Verdict
Ego Driver and GO Captain both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 65% of GO Captain's written reviews are positive against 39% of Ego Driver's. GO Captain also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 14.0). Ego Driver's advantage is ratings volume (5.1K vs 400) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Ego Driver holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ego Driver has 5.1K ratings behind it against 400, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of Ego Driver's written reviews are positive against 65% of GO Captain's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ego Driver ships an update fortnightly, GO Captain monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
