Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: FitReport at 4.4 against SimpleHR's 4.0. FitReport also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). SimpleHR's advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 28 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

FitReport costs $0.99 and SimpleHR $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
FitReport holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 25 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of FitReport's written reviews are positive against 43% of SimpleHR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
FitReport ships an update every 28 months, SimpleHR every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on June 6, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
