QuantIC is the UK Quantum Technology Hub in Quantum Enhanced Imaging and we’re working on new technologies that uses quantum physics – the physics of the smallest values such as atoms and photons to make the invisible visible. We’ve created this 3D augmented reality app to demonstrate some of the imaging technologies we are working on such as cameras that can see around corners and cameras that image invisible gases. To use this app, you’ll need to download and print the A4 PDF of QR codes from our website (https://quantic.ac.uk/education/) which represent items such as a laser, detector etc. Open the app on your tablet or phone and scan the printed QR codes as directed. Have fun trying it out! For more information on our research, visit quantic.ac.uk *Please note that the app has been developed as a free educational resource and is still undergoing testing; it should run without issue on suitable devices but it is supplied as is and we cannot be held liable for any issues arising from its use.

Experience the hidden world of particles Quantum is a real-time particle life sandbox for exploring emergent motion, artificial physics, and complex systems. Build fields with up to 10,000 particles, tune how classes attract or repel each other, and watch simple rules turn into flowing structures, swarms, or chaotic patterns. Why Quantum stands out: - Real-time particle simulation with four interacting particle classes. - Seamless 2D fields and perspective 3D volumes with touch rotation. - Rule editor for custom attraction and repulsion matrices. - Temperature, viscosity, solid/fluid edge behavior, and force tools. - Black hole and white hole tools for live interaction. - Save and load fields, rule sets, and color schemes. - P3 color support and vivid visual presets for generative art. Use Quantum as a physics toy, creative sandbox, teaching aid, or generative art lab. It is built for people who enjoy science, cellular automata, n-body systems, chaos, and beautiful simulations.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Quantum at 86% against QuantIC's 0%. Quantum also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (133 vs 4). QuantIC's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 6) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Quantum holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Quantum has 133 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 0% of QuantIC's written reviews are positive against 86% of Quantum's.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

QuantIC ships an update every 9 days, Quantum every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on June 1, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
