Can you tell Rust from Go by a single snippet? Spot the bug before it ships? Syntaxle is a daily puzzle game for programmers. Every day there's a new code snippet. Guess which language it's written in, or on some days, find the error hiding in it. DAILY PUZZLE You get six guesses. After each guess, five clues tell you how close you are: • Year released (higher or lower) • Country of origin • Object-oriented or not • Static or dynamic typing • Compiled or interpreted Over 45 languages, from Assembly and COBOL to Rust, Kotlin and Elixir. FIND THE ERROR Some days bring a bug hunt instead. Read the snippet and pick the real error. You only get one try. CODE QUEST Work through five themed levels, from Boot Camp to Expert Mode, at your own pace. SPEED RUN Name as many languages as you can against the clock and chase your personal best. LEVEL UP • Earn XP for every puzzle you solve • Build streaks for bonus XP, with streak freezes to protect you on busy days • Unlock achievements and complete daily quests • Use hints when you're stuck LEADERBOARDS Compete on the global, weekly and Speed Run leaderboards, or add friends by username and see who's on top. MAKE IT YOURS Light and dark mode, color themes, colorblind mode, sound effects and optional daily reminders. SHARE YOUR RESULT Post your emoji grid without spoiling the answer. SYNTAXLE PRO A one-time purchase that unlocks: • +25% XP on everything you earn • A free first hint on every puzzle • Exclusive themes: Dracula, Nord, Sunset and Matrix • Up to 3 streak freezes • Every puzzle from the last 30 days • No ads • A crown on the leaderboard and a gold profile frame Prefer to just skip the ads? There's a separate No Ads purchase too. New puzzle every day at midnight UTC. How long can you keep your streak?

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Speed Typer at 4.7 against Syntaxle's 4.0. Speed Typer also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (6.7K vs 1). Syntaxle's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 84%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speed Typer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Syntaxle sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Speed Typer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Typer has 6.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Speed Typer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Syntaxle's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Speed Typer ships an update every 3 weeks, Syntaxle every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
