Fractal Generator Explore the beauty of mathematics through fractals. Fractal Generator lets you create Iterated Function System (IFS) fractals using both traditional mathematical methods and a new visual, drag-and-drop builder. Whether you’re learning linear transformations, teaching fractals in the classroom, or simply experimenting with mathematical art, the app makes fractals approachable and rewarding to explore. Create Fractals Analytically • Build fractals using classic affine transformation coefficients • Enter and edit values directly • Render self-similar fractals in real time Fractals are generated from systems of equations that describe how points are transformed. These systems can be solved using substitution, elimination, or matrices, making the app a natural companion for algebra and linear algebra coursework. New in Version 2.0 — Visual Fractal Builder Design fractals visually by placing and manipulating shapes on a grid. The visual builder converts geometric transformations into the underlying mathematical coefficients automatically, allowing you to: • Experiment without starting from equations • See how transformations affect the final fractal • Better understand how IFS systems are constructed This makes fractals more intuitive, especially for visual learners. Learn, Experiment, and Explore • Recreate classic fractals included in the app • Modify existing systems or create your own • Watch a built-in tutorial explaining how the math behind fractals works Export and Share • Export high-resolution images • Optional transparent backgrounds for PNG export • Save to Photos or share your creations easily Fractal Generator Pro Unlock the full experience with a one-time Pro upgrade: • All fractal collections • Visual drag-and-drop builder • Advanced export options No subscriptions. No accounts. No tracking. If you previously purchased any fractal pack, restoring purchases automatically unlocks Pro. Genetic algorithms are one of the search and optimisation methods. The aim of optimisation is to increase efficiency in reaching a certain optimal value. Genetic algorithms are based on the mechanisms of natural selection and heredity. The basic genetic algorithm is built from three operations: reproduction, crossing, and mutation. Genetic algorithms operate on populations of coding sequences and use random selection rules to search for the global optimal value. However, these random rules are defined to give the appropriate direction of the search (through various selection mechanisms or scaling of fitness functions). This basic procedure is enhanced by certain genetic manipulations, such as those seen in nature. They include the mechanisms of dominance, diploidy, inversion, and other reconfiguration mechanisms that occur at the chromosome level. Users can design textual or graphical scaling patterns for the fitness function and then use them in simulations. The application also provides a preliminary analysis of statistical data concerning the distribution of the fitness function in the population. The program allows the user to compare non-random procedures (e.g. scaling of fitness functions) by using the same pseudorandom sequence (for procedures requiring randomization, such as selection, etc.) in successive simulations. In order to better visualize the genetic processes taking place during the simulation, some of them are presented to the user using animations. Additionally, some of the data obtained from simulations can be saved and shared.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Genetic Algorithms at 5.0 against Fractal Generator's 4.3. Genetic Algorithms also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 60%) and in-app purchases (none vs 5). Fractal Generator's advantage is update cadence (every 3 months vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (6 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fractal Generator sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Genetic Algorithms asks for nothing beyond the download.
Genetic Algorithms holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fractal Generator has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 60% of Fractal Generator's written reviews are positive against 100% of Genetic Algorithms's.
Fractal Generator ships an update every 3 months, Genetic Algorithms every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on September 4, 2026 and September 14, 2026 respectively.
