Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: CL at 4.8 against Mango Reader's 4.6. CL also leads on ratings volume (83 vs 13) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.4). Mango Reader's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 50%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
CL holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CL has 83 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of CL's written reviews are positive against 63% of Mango Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 21, 2026 respectively.
