With the βZHAW Emergencyβ app, employees, lecturers, students, external staff and visitors to the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) always have the most important information and telephone numbers to hand so that they can act quickly and appropriately in emergency situations. Buttons for alerting emergency numbers and internal university alarms are integrated directly into the instructions. Registered users are informed directly via the app in the event of an emergency. Separate functions are provided for evacuation and operational emergency responders, which support the processes and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Temporary users, such as external staff or visitors, can register using codes that are valid for a limited time and are communicated on site (e.g. at an event).
UB ROSC

The UB-ROSC score is a multi-parametric practical score to predict the probability of survival to hospital admission of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) victim by using Utstein Style-based variables. It was developed by a working group as described in the article Baldi E. et al, An Utstein-based model score to predict survival to hospital admission: The UB-ROSC score. Int J Cardiol. 2020; in press. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijcard.2020.01.032 Prompt initiation of CPR manoeuvres after OHCA has an immediate impact on both ROSC achievement and outcome. ROSC in field can be temporarily or permanently achieved, bearing in mind that the most important one in OHCA management is a sustained ROSC. The development of a user-friendly and generally applicable tool to predict the resuscitation success, indicated by a sustained ROSC leading to hospital admission after arrival of the EMS team, would be of major clinical relevance. Such a score β consisting in different independent variables based on Utstein style which are readily available to the EMS team β could support the decision for aggressive therapy, provide medical personnel and family members with reasonable expectation of immediate outcome as well as improve general termination-of-resuscitation rules beyond those currently available UB ROSC is not a score to withhold resuscitation. UB ROSC shall help in setting realistic expectations about sustained ROSC achievement during resuscitation manoeuvres, an important target for paramedics, rescue teams and even more so for family members.
