Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Pizza Hero at 4.7 against Squish Machine's 4.1. Pizza Hero also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 146). Squish Machine's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 71%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Squish Machine sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Pizza Hero sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Pizza Hero holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pizza Hero has 1.4K ratings behind it against 146, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Squish Machine's written reviews are positive against 71% of Pizza Hero's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Squish Machine ships an update every 2 months, Pizza Hero every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
