Journey into the haunted heart of German Romanticism with Ludwig Tieck's 'Der Runenberg'. Young Christian abandons his quiet life as a gardener, drawn irresistibly to the wild, crystalline peaks of the Runenberg — where a mysterious woman offers him a tablet covered in strange symbols that will consume him forever. Tieck's novella is a masterwork of the Romantic movement, exploring the fatal pull between civilised order and wild, supernatural nature. This bilingual app presents the full German text alongside a faithful English translation, letting you encounter authentic 19th-century prose at your own pace. Ideal for advanced learners (B2-C1), this reader bridges the gap between graded materials and genuine German literary works. Perfect for those studying Germanistik, the Romantic period, or anyone hungry for literature beyond the classroom.
