Verdict

The call

Cube Cut and Spellt both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 86% of Cube Cut's written reviews are positive against 60% of Spellt's. Cube Cut also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Spellt's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, rating, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Spellt holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 16 and 19 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Cube Cut's written reviews are positive against 60% of Spellt's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Cube Cut ships an update every 5 months, Spellt monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
