The call

The clearest difference is rating: Close Cities at 4.8 against Ten Buttons's 4.0. Close Cities also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (356 vs 1). Ten Buttons's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 69%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Close Cities holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Close Cities has 356 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Ten Buttons's written reviews are positive against 69% of Close Cities's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Ten Buttons ships an update every 5 months, Close Cities every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
