For at mindske risikoen for at afrikansk svinepest breder sig til Danmark og for at overvåge sygdommen ønsker Fødevarestyrelsen at kende til forekomsten af vildsvin i naturen. Fødevarestyrelsen er meget interesseret i at få besked, hvis du ser levende eller døde vildsvin i naturen eller spor efter disse. Nedlagte vildsvin må også meget gerne blive rapporteret til styrelsen. Døde og nedlagte vildsvin vil blive undersøgt for en række smitsomme husdyrsygdomme, mens Naturstyrelsen får besked om fund af levende vildsvin med henblik på bortskydning.
