Line vs Element Note
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
Line
This app models the relationship between two variables using linear regression. It fits a linear equation to observed data, calculating the slope, intercept, correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination to assess the model's fit.
- Linear regression modeling
- Calculate slope and intercept
- Correlation coefficient calculation
- Coefficient of determination (R2)
- Model fit assessment

The Line-Fit app uses linear regression to model the relationship between two variables (x and y) by fitting a linear equation to observed data. One variable is considered to be an explanatory (independent) variable, and the other is considered to be a response (dependent) variable. A linear regression line has an equation of the form Y = a + bX, where X is the explanatory variable and Y is the dependent variable. The slope of the line is b, and the intercept is a (the value of y when x = 0). To measure the association between the two variables the correlation coefficient is used, which is a value between -1 and 1 indicating the strength of the association of the observed data for the two variables. The coefficient of determination, R2, measures how close the data are to the fitted regression line. In general, higher values of R2 indicate a better fit of the model to the given data. R2 is always positive and equal to 1.0 for a perfect fit.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Element Note at 69% against Line's 0%. Element Note also leads on rating (4.6 vs 3.7) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 41 months). Line's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Element Note sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per year. Line asks for nothing beyond the download.
Element Note holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Element Note has 2.6K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 0% of Line's written reviews are positive against 69% of Element Note's.
Line ships an update every 41 months, Element Note fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
