About

NullByte

NullByte is a lean, text-driven hacking strategy game. Start with a single machine, turn it into a feared cyber-weapon, and climb a global leaderboard of the world's best hackers. No spinning loot wheels, no endless number-go-up. Every upgrade is a deliberate, timed decision - closer to a classic browser strategy game than to an idle tapper. Your upgrades keep running while the app is closed. BUILD YOUR SYSTEM • Upgrade seven core components - CPU, GPU, bandwidth, firewall, OS, RAM, storage - along an exponential cost curve. • Every component pulls its weight: attack power, defense, passive income, or storage capacity. • One upgrade slot per component. Pick your order carefully. RESEARCH PROGRAMS • Hardware is just raw capacity. Programs turn it into real firepower. • Cracker, Exploit Kit, Patch Manager, IDS, Vault, Crypto Miner - six programs, one global research slot. • A rock-paper-scissors layer: Exploit Kit punches through defenses, while IDS and Patch Manager shut it down. • Vault locks away a slice of your balance, shielding it completely from raids. • A smaller, well-tuned rig can beat a bigger, neglected one - within fair, capped limits. ATTACK REAL PLAYERS • Pick targets straight off the global leaderboard, or fight a rotating crew of generated NPC hackers. • Attacks are asynchronous: no live lobbies, no waiting on opponents. Launch it and check back. • Win and you take a share of the target's credits. Lose and it costs you the same amount - raiding is a real risk, not a free roll. • Lose on defense and you get a 4-hour protection window. DON'T GO DARK • Long inactivity opens security holes that weaken your defense against raids. • Install a Day-Zero Patch to seal them shut. • Sign in with Game Center - no separate account, no password. • Server-authoritative combat: every PvP outcome is decided on the backend, never the client. Become the best hacker in the world. One upgrade at a time.
