Turn handwriting, number recognition, spelling and maths practice into a space adventure. Maxi's Mighty Mindgames brings together four playful learning experiences for children from Reception through Year 2. Short missions and calm feedback help learners keep going. DOT-TO-DOT DISCOVERY Recognise numbers while revealing 84 hand-reviewed, child-friendly pictures. Every visible dot belongs to the picture, and every exterior turn is one the numbered trail can draw. • Choose Tap dots to press the next number, or Trace lines to draw from the last dot to the next • Build confidence across number ranges 1–10, 1–15 and 1–20, with selected 1–25 adventures • Press Hear whenever a spoken reminder of the next number would help • Scan the whole field: varied spacing makes the number more useful than simply choosing the nearest dot • Zoom into the finished artwork and colour meaningful regions using picture-specific colours • Choose quick tap-to-shade or colour directly with a finger or Apple Pencil • Build subitising confidence with standard 1–5 dot patterns and a quick Star Spot bonus • Occasionally move into Comet Writer to form a number between pictures • Explore animals, vehicles, food, nature and everyday favourites COMET WRITER Practise all 26 lowercase letters, 26 capitals and the numbers 0–9 with clear starting points, stroke order, direction and writing-line guidance. • Follow the glow, connect the stars, then write independently • Get immediate feedback on starting point, direction, path and line placement • Pick any symbol instantly in Quick Practice • Hear British-English letter sounds and write the match in Letter Sound Mission • Write a whole common word on one continuous writing line • Type a one-off word and practise writing it immediately • Build control first with Flight School's lines, curves, slants and loops • Choose finger input or Apple Pencil-only input on compatible iPad models • Adjust letter size and turn writing lines on or off Comet Writer works with a finger. A capacitive stylus or Apple Pencil is optional on compatible devices. STAR SPELLER Choose a Year 1 phonics or tricky-word group and a 3, 5 or 10-word mission. The child hears each hidden word in a short context sentence, types it and then forms every letter using Comet Writer's guided handwriting tools. Adaptive practice revisits spellings that needed errors or hints, and the active child profile keeps a grown-up progress summary. A grown-up can add a familiar word list with optional example sentences. Optional pronunciations recorded by a grown-up remain on the device. GROWN-UP MISSION CONTROL Create a separate profile for each child, choose who is playing when the app opens and switch from the main menu. Each profile keeps its own progress. When iCloud is available, profile details and a small progress snapshot sync privately between devices using the same Apple Account. Grown-ups can also choose left- or right-handed writing, see formation mastery, replay saved writing trails, make a local PDF progress report, add custom practice words and optionally record a pronunciation on the device. CIRCUIT CHALLENGE Solve the glowing hex, then follow the connector carrying its answer. Play a gentle adventure or customise a quick game with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Choose the exact times tables to practise, change the number range and grid size, or create printable puzzles for offline play. BUILT FOR FOCUSED PRACTICE • No adverts • No in-app purchases • No third-party analytics or tracking • No developer account or separate sign-in • Works offline; private Apple iCloud progress sync resumes when available A grown-up gate protects detailed progress tools, reports, custom words, profile deletion and optional microphone recording. Writing trails, custom words and voice recordings stay on the device. A grown-up can explicitly export a local report through Apple's system share sheet.
