Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is update cadence: Monk Monkey at weekly against Quitzilla's every 10 months. Monk Monkey also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). Quitzilla's advantage is ratings volume (1.6K vs 4) and review sentiment (75% vs 59%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Monk Monkey sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Quitzilla sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Monk Monkey holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Quitzilla has 1.6K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Monk Monkey's written reviews are positive against 75% of Quitzilla's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Monk Monkey ships an update weekly, Quitzilla every 10 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
