Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hit Parader at 100% against Hollywood Connection's 75%. Hit Parader also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (10.2 vs 15.0). Hollywood Connection's advantage is ratings volume (124 vs 6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Hit Parader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hollywood Connection has 124 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 75% of Hollywood Connection's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hit Parader's.
