Verdict
SF Muni Buses and Commuter Widgets both sit at 4.2 stars, but that hides the real split: 67% of Commuter Widgets's written reviews are positive against 27% of SF Muni Buses's. Commuter Widgets also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). SF Muni Buses's advantage is ratings volume (1K vs 3) and device support (4 vs 2). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
