Steel Cord Splice
Read full descriptionHide full description
It is late. It is hot, or cold, or wet, or dusty. It is miserable. The center pattern is ready to cut, and everyone is on their knees with an opinion on which cords to cut and which way the edge cords should run. That is not the time or the place to be designing a splice. Let the technology in your phone help. Steel Cord Splice works the splice out from the belt's own numbers, step pattern, step length, transition and butt gaps, and prints the field drawing the crew works from. On a supported iPhone or iPad it lays the splice over the belt at actual size in augmented reality, so the crew can see where every step lands before the first cut (U.S. Patent Pending). Start free. Practice all eleven construction steps with the built-in sample in 3D or, on a supported iPhone or iPad, in AR on a floor or table. No subscription or internet is needed. Printed locator tags are optional. Record the mine, the conveyor and the belt, then work from calculated defaults or enter your supplier's dimensions. Inspect the full splice, the center pattern, the repeating pattern and the edge pattern with zoom, pan, cable numbers and separate belt-end views. Export field drawing PDFs, DXF drawings and images, print any of them, and save and reopen project files. Crew jobs: a supervisor assigns a splice to a crew member's device, online or from a nearby device, and receives signed receipts when the job is received, opened and acknowledged. An assigned job opens at the belt with no internet connection. Opening one requires a Standard or Premium subscription. Advanced work, when you need it. A combination splice joins two belts that do not match, different manufacturers, different cord counts, different cord diameters, drawing every cord of both belts and rating each end on its own cords. Finite element analysis models cord tension and rubber shear through the splice, so layouts can be compared on strain and peak cord load rather than on opinion. Sixteen interface languages, with metric and imperial display. iPhone, iPad and Mac. Augmented reality requires a supported iPhone or iPad and camera permission; Mac and simulators show the same models in 3D. Written by an engineer who has spent a career on belt conveyors and who teaches the Belt Conveyor Design short course at the Colorado School of Mines. Standard includes design editing, drawing and DXF exports, 3D viewing, an augmented-reality demonstration, joining a shared session, and Crew jobs. Premium includes everything in Standard and adds combination splices, finite element and curing simulations, augmented reality of your own design, and hosting shared sessions. Premium replaces Standard rather than adding to it. Eligible new subscribers receive a free trial; Apple determines eligibility for one introductory offer per subscription group. Apple shows the price for your region before you purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled. Activation packs for permanent tags are a separate purchase and never expire. Premium includes two activations once, after the first paid charge, to be used within ninety days of issue. Without a subscription you can preview drawings, open and save project files, and open and save existing analysis results. Final dimensions are to be confirmed by the belt supplier. Reference values and examples are generic and imply no manufacturer approval. Users must independently verify inputs and results and judge suitability for their application.
