A free app (which is the second one of a set), providing an easy-to-use self-assessment quiz of the inheritance mechanism or inheritance mode of 15 Mendelian (or "single-gene") disorders that may be learned at college or university. After taking the quiz, a score is awarded & the correct answers are listed for each question that was answered incorrectly. Please note that due to the overlap between X-linked recessive and dominant modes of inheritance, these conditions are classed together in the app as "X-linked", as in many current reference sources. The app was created by both Edward and Adam Tobias. It was produced to help students and to accompany Prof Tobias's Medical Genetics textbooks (including "Essential Medical Genetics" and "Medical Genetics for the MRCOG and Beyond") and his educational websites (www.EuroGEMS.org and www.essentialmedgen.com). Prof Tobias is a researcher, lecturer and clinical geneticist. Cube Aware is a thoughtfully designed application for mathematics education aimed at enhancing spatial visualization. Spatial imagination is considered a significant component of human intelligence. Suitable tools beyond conventional flat drawing of spatial objects are necessary in schools for its development. The advantage of spatial software lies in its dynamism, allowing students to actively engage in space and visualize the effects of their actions and configurations. The application serves as a good example of integrating two- and three-dimensional representations through cube structures. Cube structures, from a didactic perspective, are particularly suitable because they promote visual perception. Cube Aware focuses on what are known as "translation actions" of perspectives using cube structures. The emphasis is on constructing cube structures based on existing perspectives, as well as making perspective-preserving changes to the cube structure. The goal is to construct a cube structure with as few cubes as possible based on existing side views. The resulting cube structures are often more symmetrical than intuition might suggest. Discover fractal structures as potential solutions in a playful manner. Cube Aware can also be played in an Augmented Reality mode, offering an exciting approach to largely unexplored possibilities of spatial interaction. Augmented Reality allows the training of spatial orientation on screens and enables physically walking around the cube structure.
