Features

Thermal climate stress affects health and productivity for millions of European workers. Sudden changes in the thermal environment (heat waves or cold spells) are also major health challenges for the elderly and other vulnerable populations, increasing mortality and morbidity. The consequences of thermal stress are dependent not only on climate factors, but also on individual human physiology and thermoregulation capacity. For warning and preparation purposes, climate services can provide information on current and upcoming environmental conditions, but such weather forecasts will be much more valuable for individuals facing adverse weather conditions if combined with individual characteristics and translated into optimized adaptation strategies that can be provided and implemented immediately. It is possible, but not necessary, to personalize the app with information (height, weight, age, gender) for more accurate prediction of thermal climate stress. Within the next year the app will regularly be updated with new thermal models along with optimization of the current content. About

Riska

Riska — wildfires, weather and official warnings for the places you care about in Portugal, all year round. INDEPENDENT APP — NOT A GOVERNMENT SERVICE Riska is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any government entity including ANEPC, IPMA, ICNF, SGIFR or APA. It aggregates publicly available data from the sources listed below and does not generate data independently. Information may be delayed or incomplete. In an emergency, follow official authorities and call 112. ONE MAP, ALL YEAR - Wildfires: Civil Protection (ANEPC) and ICNF incidents with their official status, source and time. Satellite detections (NASA FIRMS) are shown separately, as unconfirmed. - Winter (mainland Portugal): incidents recorded by Civil Protection — fallen trees and structures, landslides and road occurrences (they do not mean a road is closed) on the map; flooding reported to ANEPC in the list, by municipality — always with time and source. - APA flood zones: official long-term flood mapping (100-year return period). It does not show flooding in progress. - Official IPMA warnings by district (wind, rain, snow, cold, rough seas), including those that start later. - IPMA fire danger by municipality. Official information is always shown separately from Riska's own analysis. RADAR AND FORECAST — WITH A FREE ACCOUNT - Rain radar (EUMETNET OPERA), with the time of every image and a legend. - Rain, snow and cloud forecasts from the ECMWF model for the coming days. Every image shows its time. When data is late, the app tells you. NEARBY - Save the place you care about — your home, your land, your family's village — and see what is happening around it: incidents, warnings and weather. A free account includes one saved place. - Weather at your place and a forecast for the coming days, with the source and time of every reading. ALERTS THAT EXPLAIN WHY - Alerts when an incident, an official warning or a fire-danger peak meets your place — by notification, email or Telegram — with the distance to your place where it applies. - Follow an incident to get alerts about it. Alerts are supplementary awareness: they can be delayed and do not replace official warnings. COMMUNITY PHOTOS Photos are displayed publicly only with the sender's permission and moderator approval.
