About

The 8 Protocol

Features

You train with a plan, so eat with one. The 8 Protocol is your food diary with a longevity focus: calories, macros and body metrics at a glance, without an account and without ads. LOG FOOD QUICKLY Search through Open Food Facts, a local staple food database (works offline) and a barcode scanner. Amounts in grams, millilitres, pieces, tablespoons or teaspoons. Values you already know go straight into the quick entry. Meal times optional. YOUR DAY AT A GLANCE Calorie ring and macro bars, swipe between days. Tapping the date opens the month at a glance: days within your target band are green. Calorie and macro goals from the goal calculator. Fiber as a daily total, with a note about missing values. Exercise without a watch: enter activity and duration, overwrite the estimated burn when you need to. Off by default. WEIGHT FROM APPLE HEALTH Your weight with its history from Apple Health. On request, The 8 Protocol writes calories and macros back to Apple Health (off by default). CALM OR COLORFUL Dark-first design, reminders (opt-in, off by default) and colorful meal categories you can switch off. Your profile picture sits at the top, next to the number of days you have tracked. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No account, no ads, no tracking. Your diary, profile and health data stay on your iPhone; the only exception is the optional photo estimate below. When you change phones, your data comes along in the iPhone backup. AND YOU TAKE IT WITH YOU The data export gives you your diary, water, sauna, fasting, custom ingredients and your daily goal as a ZIP with CSV and JSON. No subscription needed. WHERE THE NUTRITION VALUES COME FROM The nutrition values come from Open Food Facts (ODbL), from a local database with USDA reference values and from ingredients you create yourself. They are reference values without warranty. THE 8 PROTOCOL+ The subscription unlocks additional features: Nutrient estimate from a photo: photograph your meal, check the ingredients, and replace or add individual ones from the food search. Consent before first use, switchable off in your profile. For the estimate the photo goes briefly to my server, which does not store it, and on to an AI provider, which normally deletes it within 30 days. Up to 15 photos a day and 150 a month. Entering by hand stays more accurate. Fasting timer with automatic 16:8 window. 8 Score: a weekly overview of the criteria you met, 0 to 8 (not a health assessment). Weekly and monthly recap with averages and body metric changes. Daily report as a PDF: one day on a page. Plant diversity: a counter across 7 days, off by default (not a health assessment). Shortcuts, Action Button and Siri: log water, repeat a meal, start or end fasting, without opening the app. Weekday goals: a training day or rest day shifts your calorie and protein goal. Your own protein goal: set the factor per kilogram of body weight yourself. Water tracker: daily goal from your weight, set the factor yourself, optionally in Apple Health. Sauna tracker: the seven days of the week to tap, off by default (no target, no rating). Body fat percentage and lean body mass with history. Macro tips and protein distribution with evidence label. Create your own ingredients. The 8 Protocol+ is a subscription: Monthly: 4.99 US dollars per month. Annual: 34.99 US dollars per year, with a 7-day free trial. Prices in other regions may differ and are shown before you purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the term. You manage and cancel it in your Apple Account settings. The 8 Protocol is for users aged 16 and over. Terms of use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy: https://the8protocol.com/privacy/ Reference values without warranty, not medical advice, not an assessment of your health. The 8 Protocol is a self-tracking tool for general wellness. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
