Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Tallahassee Bystander at 100% against Skydio's 43%. Tallahassee Bystander also leads on monetization model (free vs paid) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Skydio's advantage is rating (4.0 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (79 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Skydio holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Skydio has 79 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Skydio's written reviews are positive against 100% of Tallahassee Bystander's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Skydio ships an update every 2 months, Tallahassee Bystander every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
