Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Picstagraph at none against das Image Search and Explore's 1. Picstagraph also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (9.2 vs 15.0). das Image Search and Explore's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 1) and update cadence (every 9 days vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, ads and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. das Image Search and Explore sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Picstagraph asks for nothing beyond the download.
Picstagraph holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: das Image Search and Explore has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 91% of das Image Search and Explore's written reviews are positive against 85% of Picstagraph's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
das Image Search and Explore ships an update every 9 days, Picstagraph monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
