Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: A1 at none against SpeakGator's 2. A1 also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.3 vs 3.8). SpeakGator's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 68%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 24 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. SpeakGator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. A1 asks for nothing beyond the download.
A1 holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 24 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of A1's written reviews are positive against 100% of SpeakGator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
A1 ships an update every 24 months, SpeakGator every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
