SmarterNoise Pro edition is developed especially with more advanced measurements in mind, and includes many requested features such as a frequency spectrum display, export of measurement data, A-, C- or no weighting for sound level measurement, and full screen audio mode. SmarterNoise Pro edition does not contain any advertising, and performs accurately and fast. Features: • Sound level measurement in video mode • Sound level measurement in audio mode • Sound meter snapshot camera • Record video and audio files (paid function) • Recording timer • Sound level activated audio recording • Frequency spectrum display (paid function) • Peak frequency detection • A-, C- or no frequency weighting • Export of measurement data in CSV format • Full HD (paid function), HD and VGA video resolution • Three video quality settings • Archive for saved files • Sharing of saved files • Calibration • Save location of measurement (optional) • Time and date • Continuous Leq, LAeq, LCeq value • 10 second sound level average (Leq, LAeq, LCeq) • 60 second sound level average (Leq, LAeq, LCeq) • Maximum and minimum decibel level About decibels and sound level measurement The unit for measuring sound is called a decibel. Because the decibel scale is logarithmic, a sound with an intensity that is twice that of a reference sound corresponds to an increase of about 3 decibels. The reference point of 0 decibel is set at the intensity of the least perceptible sound, the threshold of hearing. On such a scale a 10-decibel sound is 10 times the intensity of the reference sound. Highlighting this is important as already a few decibels higher or lower makes a noticeable difference in how noise is perceived. The preferred method to describe sound levels that vary over time, resulting in a single decibel value measuring the total sound energy over the period, is called Leq. It is however common practice to measure sound levels using A-weighting, which attenuates lower and higher frequencies that the average person cannot hear. In this case the value is called LAeq. A- and C-weighting The A-weighting is a standard, commonly used filter that attempts to alter the measured sound pressure levels to more closely match the perception of the human ear. A-weighting makes the sound level meter less sensitive to very high (over 8000 Hz) and low frequencies (below 1000 Hz). C-weighting also attenuates low and high frequencies, but the attenuation of low frequencies is much less severe compared to A-weighting. Calibrate: Calibrate the application using the calibration tool found in the settings menu. Phones and their components vary in quality and setup so you need to calibrate the app in order for the results to be relatively comparable. One suggestion is that you close the window and door to your bedroom or bathroom, turn off appliances, and once its very quiet calibrate the app so the reading is about 30 decibel.

Audio Analyszer is a professional audio analysis software. Supports a variety of measurement modes such as spectrum analysis, phase spectrum analysis, audio oscilloscope, persistence spectrum, power distribution, spectrogram, etc. Supports accessibility functions such as audio recording, audio playback, audio clipping, peak measurement, and more. 【Spectrum Analysis】 The frequency audio spectrum is a description of how an audio signal behaves in the frequency domain. An audio signal is represented in the time domain as a change in volume over a period of time, while a spectrogram shows how high or low the volume of this audio is at each frequency at a certain time. The software supports custom spectrum measurements and flexible definition of frequency ranges. A variety of trace options to assist in peak measurement. 【Audio Oscilloscope】 The oscilloscope measurement is different from the spectrum measurement, which reflects the frequency domain information of the audio signal, and the oscilloscope reflects the time domain information of the audio signal. An oscilloscope converts an electrical signal into an image, allowing the user to judge the characteristics and waveform of the signal by looking at the image. This is very helpful for observing the signal waveform in the circuit, and can clearly see the waveform, frequency, amplitude and other characteristics of the signal, so as to judge the quality and performance of the signal. 【Power Distribution】 The power distribution measurement is similar to the spectrum measurement, both of which display the frequency domain power value of the signal, but the difference is that the power distribution measures the integrated power of the signal within a certain bandwidth with a certain point as the center frequency. Functions such as maximum and minimum value holding are supported. 【Persistence Spectrum】 The afterglow spectrum is an extension of the spectrum measurement, and the afterglow spectrum also shows the frequency domain characteristics of the signal. This measurement is based on the spectrum measurement, adding multiple trace displays, the latest trace uses the maximum brightness, and then fades over time, so the afterglow spectrum is a powerful tool for observing the change direction of the signal at the same time. 【Spectrogram】 A spectrogram is a graphical representation of a sound signal in time and frequency. Spectra provide a visual representation of the spectral characteristics of a speech signal over time. Through the spectrogram, we can observe the frequency and time characteristics of the sound signal, and thus gain a deeper understanding of the nature of the sound signal. At any given moment, a spectral diagram can show the intensity of different frequency components, which is usually represented by the grayscale of the corresponding point or the intensity of the hue. This dynamic spectral representation helps us capture the complex properties of sound signals that change over time. 【Paid Membership Features】 - Frequency range customization - Data record limit increased - Unlock audio clips - Unlock advanced configurations 【Activate Paid Membership】 Paid members are available as a subscription or as a permanent activation Membership Service Agreement: https://audioanalyzer-serviceagreement.mysxl.cn/

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Audio Analyst at 5.0 against SmarterNoise Pro's 4.4. Audio Analyst also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and device support (4 vs 2). SmarterNoise Pro's advantage is ratings volume (31 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. SmarterNoise Pro sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Audio Analyst sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Audio Analyst holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmarterNoise Pro has 31 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
SmarterNoise Pro ships an update monthly, Audio Analyst weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
