Hundreds of food recalls are issued in the United States every year. One of them could be in your fridge right now. A recall almost never covers every package of a product: it covers specific lot numbers. Until now, you had to find the official FDA or USDA notice, then compare a tiny code printed on the package yourself. Numeline reads it for you: scan the barcode, photograph the lot number, get your answer. Created by a former chef. An independent app built on official FDA and USDA recall data (details below). BROWSE RECALLS FOR FREE Browse every food recall published by the FDA and the USDA, and check a lot number by hand as often as you need: always free and unlimited. New accounts also get 10 free AI scans, to use within 10 days. CHECK THE LOT, NOT JUST THE PRODUCT A barcode tells you a product was recalled. Only the lot number tells you whether YOUR package is affected. Two steps: barcode, then lot. Brand and lot are matched against active official recalls. GET ALERTED, EVEN WEEKS LATER A recall can come long after you shop. Every product you scan stays monitored for listeria, salmonella, E. coli, undeclared allergens and more. You get notified, even with the app closed. WHEN NO LOT NUMBER IS PUBLISHED Some recalls list no lot codes. Numeline then flags a possible recall when brand and product match, and shows what was published, such as "Best if Used By" dates. It also follows FDA press releases, often out before the enforcement database. WHO IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD CAN EAT IT? One profile per person: major allergens (milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat and gluten, soy, fish, shellfish, sesame, plus mustard and sulfites), foods to avoid (pork, seafood, beef, alcohol, gelatin), vegetarian or vegan, limits for sugar, fat, saturated fat and salt. Every scan gives a clear verdict for each person. PREGNANT, CELIAC, ALLERGIC Pregnancy mode flags raw milk, deli meat, raw fish, sprouts, high-mercury fish, liver and caffeine. Celiac mode detects gluten down to traces. Search thousands of ingredients, or add your own. THE FULL RECALL, EASY TO READ Brand, reason, affected lots, distributor, what to do, and a link to the official notice. YOUR VIGILANCE, REWARDED Earn badges: first scan, first recall caught, household protected, weeks in a row, and one month to one year as a member. FOR FOOD PROFESSIONALS Restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores, school cafeterias, caterers, nursing homes, daycares: check incoming shipments and keep a record. Business plans add more scans, up to one year of history, team seats, and PDF, CSV or XLSX exports. PRIVACY Scan photos are deleted right after the code is read; only brand and lot are kept. Allergens are optional. No ads. Sign in with Apple, Google or email. PREMIUM PLANS AI lot scanning and allergen and diet alerts come with a Premium plan, which includes a monthly scan allowance, from 100 to 2,000 scans. Monthly or yearly billing, cancel anytime. WHAT THE ANSWER MEANS, AND WHAT IT DOESN'T "No recall found" means no matching recall was published at the time of the check. It is not a guarantee that the product is safe. Ingredient data from Open Food Facts may be incomplete. Always read the label. INDEPENDENT APP Numeline is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. government, the FDA, the USDA, or any other public authority, and does not represent any government entity. DATA SOURCES Recalls: the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts and fsis.usda.gov/recalls Products, ingredients, allergens: Open Food Facts. world.openfoodfacts.org None of these sources is affiliated with or endorses Numeline.
