Messages Augmented Reality is a new and amazing way to send special messages. You can send text, emoticons, symbols and kawaii in Augmented Reality with cool screen effects. How it works? You create the Augmented Reality message. A message link will be generated. You can then send and share the link with anyone. When they tap the link they can view the Augmented Reality Message that you created. The message link back part can be customised. It’s really easy and fun. You can also view message statistics such as how many times your message was read and also receive a notification the first time your message is read. What about customization? Add text with many different fonts and effects. You can change the size, the 3D effect, the color or you can add amazing textures. Add animations or special effects to text symbols and kawaii. You can do just about anything you imagine. And the Emoticons? A great message always has emoticons. Choose many different 3D emoticons and add them in Augmented Reality. Change the size, position, add animations and special effects. Does the iMessage App work the same way? Yes the iMessage App has all the same amazing feature and customizability. The only difference is that messages are sent directly to the recipient without a link. The recipient can simply tap the message and view it in Augmented Reality. It’s that simple. Message Augmented Reality is fun and amazing. Enjoy making great messages.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Messages Augmented Reality at 4.3 against SkyLetter's 1.0. Messages Augmented Reality also leads on ratings volume (32 vs 1). SkyLetter's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 78 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Messages Augmented Reality sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. SkyLetter asks for nothing beyond the download.
Messages Augmented Reality holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messages Augmented Reality has 32 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of SkyLetter's written reviews are positive against 0% of Messages Augmented Reality's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SkyLetter ships an update fortnightly, Messages Augmented Reality every 78 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
