The call

The clearest difference is rating: CrowdCanvas at 3.8 against Grub Lab's 3.0. CrowdCanvas also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.1). Grub Lab's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

CrowdCanvas holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Grub Lab's written reviews are positive against 50% of CrowdCanvas's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Grub Lab ships an update weekly, CrowdCanvas every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on June 1, 2026 and July 7, 2026 respectively.
