Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: WayLog at 5.0 against RouteHistory's 4.7. WayLog also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). RouteHistory's advantage is ratings volume (304 vs 27) and iOS requirement (16.6 vs 18.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. RouteHistory sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month and WayLog sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

WayLog holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: RouteHistory has 304 ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of RouteHistory's written reviews are positive against 60% of WayLog's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

RouteHistory ships an update monthly, WayLog every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
