Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Blue Box Simulator at every 10 days against ProgressBar95's every 2 months. ProgressBar95's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (3K vs 107). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ProgressBar95 sells 10 one-off in-app purchases and Blue Box Simulator sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ProgressBar95 holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ProgressBar95 has 3K ratings behind it against 107, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 91% of ProgressBar95's written reviews are positive against 79% of Blue Box Simulator's.
ProgressBar95 ships an update every 2 months, Blue Box Simulator every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
