Honestly, we're just a bunch of fish heads that grew up in Miami that love to spend every waking moment fishing or thinking about fishing. A few of us also shared a passion for making things - in particular, crafting quality sportswear. We have 200+ years of combined experience in crafting apparel & casting fishing lines. Heck - you can't do something that long unless you are passionate about your craft - we are just saying. We are a proud 4th generation family owned company. Our brand reputation rests on the experienced craftsmanship and passion of our people, handed down since 1963 from generation-to-generation-to-generation-to-generation. Hook & Tackle designs and manufactures hi-performance fishing apparel with UV sun protection. Check out our fishing shirts, fishing shorts, t-shirts, hats, swim trunks, board shorts, face masks and gaiters, jackets, backpacks and more. Our app will make it easier for you to connect and shop with us.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Googan Squad at 2.8K against Hook & Tackle's 54. Hook & Tackle's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Googan Squad against 4.8 for Hook & Tackle. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Googan Squad has 2.8K ratings behind it against 54, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 92% of Googan Squad's written reviews are positive against 100% of Hook & Tackle's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
