Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Mud at none against Googan Squad's shown. Mud also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Googan Squad's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (2.8K vs 67). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Googan Squad against 4.8 for Mud. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Googan Squad has 2.8K ratings behind it against 67, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 92% of Googan Squad's written reviews are positive against 75% of Mud's.
Googan Squad ships an update every 3 weeks, Mud every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
