Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: PAYG at none against AfroCharts's 2. AfroCharts's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AfroCharts sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. PAYG asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for AfroCharts against 5.0 for PAYG. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AfroCharts has 19 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
AfroCharts ships an update every 5 weeks, PAYG every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
