JSON Scope

JSON Scope opens the JSON files other tools give up on. A 900 MB API dump, a 2 GB export, a multi-million-line NDJSON log: JSON Scope maps the file, indexes it once, and stays interactive without loading it into memory. Everything happens on your device. JSON Scope makes no network connections, has no account and collects no data. On macOS it ships without the network entitlement, so the system itself prevents it. FREE • Open .json files up to 50 MB • A virtualised tree that expands lazily at any depth • A raw byte view with line numbers • Find keys and values, with match counts and next/previous • Precise validation: line, column, the offending token, and what was expected • Copy a node's JSONPath, its value, or its whole subtree • Quick Look previews of JSON in Finder (macOS) PRO • Open .json files of any size — tested to 2 GB — and .jsonl / .ndjson • Table view: records as rows, with inferred column types, sorting and filtering • JSONPath queries, including filters such as $.store.book[?(@.category == 'fiction')].title • jq-style queries: . .a.b .[] | select(...) {x, y} keys length map to_entries • JSON Schema (2020-12) inference for any node • Structural diff of two documents, by key and by position • Edit values and keys, then save — every byte you did not touch is preserved exactly • Export any node as JSON or CSV • A "Query JSON File" action for Shortcuts and Spotlight JSON Scope Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Both subscriptions include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Pro is a Universal Purchase: one purchase covers macOS, iPadOS and iOS on the same Apple Account. Verdict
The clearest difference is chart position: GitHub at #2 against JSON Scope's unranked. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. GitHub sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and JSON Scope sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
