Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: StageWave at 4.8 against MXBus's 4.2. StageWave also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). MXBus's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 36%) and ratings volume (120 vs 9). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MXBus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. StageWave asks for nothing beyond the download.
StageWave holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MXBus has 120 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 36% of StageWave's written reviews are positive against 71% of MXBus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
