Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: NetNewsWire at Free against WatchFeed's $0.99. NetNewsWire also leads on ratings volume (887 vs 5) and update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). WatchFeed's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and chart position (#8 vs #118). On ads, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

WatchFeed holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NetNewsWire has 887 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of NetNewsWire's written reviews are positive against 67% of WatchFeed's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

NetNewsWire ships an update monthly, WatchFeed every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
