Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Smoke at 50% against Launch Radar's 0%. Smoke also leads on device support (5 vs 2) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17). Launch Radar's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 8 days vs every 3 months). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Smoke sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Launch Radar sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Launch Radar holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6 and 10 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Smoke's written reviews are positive against 0% of Launch Radar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Smoke ships an update every 3 months, Launch Radar every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
