Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Daily Text Reader at none against Top Rankings's 1. Daily Text Reader also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Top Rankings's advantage is ratings volume (20 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 26.0). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Top Rankings sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Daily Text Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.
Daily Text Reader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Top Rankings has 20 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
