Simple things that work, and a way to find out which ones work on you. WHICH TECHNIQUE ACTUALLY WORKS ON YOU Most breathing apps hand you a library and leave you to guess. Notwell measures. Every session asks how charged you feel before you start and again when you finish. If you use Apple Health, it also compares your heart rate before and after. From that it works out a Settle Score. A session that changed nothing is reported as changing nothing. After a few sessions, Notwell shows which techniques settle you, which do nothing, and which wind you up, with the number of sessions behind every result. When it hasn't measured enough to know, it says so. NOT WELL RIGHT NOW? One button for the days you need it. Say what's going on (wired, spiralling, flat, wound up, heavy, awake at 3am) and get one session for it, not a menu to browse while you feel bad. Once there's enough history, it picks the session that has worked for you in that state before. ALSO INCLUDED • Six guided breathing techniques: Box, 4-7-8, Physiological Sigh, Coherent, Calming 4-6 and Power • Routines you build from breathe, journal, gratitude and hydrate blocks • A journal and optional mood check-ins • Rain, ocean, forest, and brown, white and pink noise, with a sleep timer • Sign in once and your journal and mood check-ins follow you across devices Your Apple Health readings stay on your device and are only compared against your own earlier readings. Verdict
Endure Timer and NotWell are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
