About

Stereogram Studio

Features

Stereogram Studio makes the hidden 3D pictures made famous by the Magic Eye books: a page of repeating pattern with a shape inside it that rises off the page when you let your eyes relax. It makes them, decodes them and animates them, all on your iPad or iPhone, with nothing sent anywhere. MAKE ONE IN FIVE STEPS Start from one of nineteen ready-made shapes, a 3D model (OBJ, STL, PLY, USDZ, FBX, glTF or GLB), a Portrait or LiDAR photograph with its real depth, a drawing with its own depth map, or a line of text. Arrange it inside the safe frame, choose from thirty-nine patterns or draw your own, add a wash of colour, and generate. Every control has plain language beside it, so eye separation and depth are settings you understand rather than guess at. A Check it switch sweeps a decode across the result so you know it works before you print. TWO MORE KINDS Word stereograms hide a message in a page of ordinary words, and can leave the app as plain text. Wallpapers hide nothing at all: every shape floats at its own depth, which makes them the easiest kind to see. DECODE ANY STEREOGRAM Reverse Engineer recovers the hidden relief from any stereogram: a file, a picture from the clipboard, or a printed page photographed with the camera, which straightens and crops it for you. A slider cuts the hidden shape into slices, and the decoded relief can be saved as a new project and given a fresh pattern. The whole of Reverse Engineer is free, exports included. ANIMATE Set a composition turning on a turntable, give each object its own motion, or pose everything with keyframes. The pattern and the geometry stay identical in every frame, so only the hidden shape moves. Export an H.264 video at up to 4K, or a sprite sheet with a JSON sidecar for games and the web. PRINT A BOOK Gather saved projects into a print-ready PDF with a title page, a how-to-view page, captions, page numbers and answers at the back. Every picture is redrawn at the size of the page, which is why it fuses in print. MAKE YOUR OWN PATTERNS Build seamless tiles out of layers: colour, gradients, noise, hatching, stamps, scribble, pictures and paint, all wrapping at the edges. Share a tile as a file another copy of the app can open. LEARN Twenty-one articles on how to see a stereogram, how one works, a short history, and a guide to every screen. FREE TO MAKE, PAY ONCE TO EXPORT Making, saving, decoding, previewing an animation and building a book are all free. Export Unlock is a single purchase, not a subscription, that unlocks taking your work out of the app as pictures, videos, sprite sheets, books, text and project files, and removes the on-screen watermark. It restores on every device signed in to your Apple Account. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, no analytics, no advertising. Everything happens on the device. iCloud sync is optional and uses your own iCloud Drive. Requires iOS 18 or later. iPad in every orientation; iPhone in portrait. Live LiDAR capture needs a device with a LiDAR camera. "Magic Eye" is a trade mark of Magic Eye Inc., which is not connected with this app.
