No game of Commander is complete without Moxtopper on your table. EASY TO USE • Keep track of every player’s life total with tasty text and chonky buttons. • The user interface is designed to be usable from all viewing directions. Just place your iPhone or iPad in the middle of your play surface and you’re good to go. • Multiple-touch support. Your whole play group can use it at the same time. TRACKS COMMANDER DAMAGE • We know that tracking commander damage is a *huge* pain. With Moxtopper, it couldn’t be easier. At any time a player can swipe horizontally on their play area to see how much commander damage they’ve taken from all the other players’ commanders. • Commander damage is tracked per *commander*, so it works great with partner commanders, too! • If you’re using partner commanders, just swipe down on your play area and press the “Partners” button to toggle partner commander mode on or off. GREAT FOR EVERY PLAY GROUP • Moxtopper is optimized to work great not just for 4 player games, but also for any game of 1 to 10 — yes, ten! — players. That means it’s right at home during one-on-one games of Friday Night Magic as well as gigantic Multiplayer Planechase House Rules Banlist Slugfests. • Configurable with a total of 32 possible seating arrangements so that layout of play areas on the screen always comfortably matches the way your play group likes to sit around the table. UPGRADE YOUR EXPERIENCE • Customize each player’s area with awesome digital “playmats”, similarly to how you are probably rolling out full art playmats on your game table in real life. • Comes with five free digital playmats • Additional digital playmats can be unlocked via in-app purchases, including one that lets you import any photo you want from your Photos library. Thanks ahead of time for supporting Moxtopper through these must-have upgrades! • In addition to the playmats, there are bonus themes in fun, readable colors. OTHER COOL FEATURES • STATS-S-S-S-S-S — Keep track of in-game numbers like commander tax, infect, storm, experience, energy, mana pools, and more using the player options menu (swipe down on your player to see these options). • TURN CLOCKS — Turn on Turn Clocks to help folks stay mindful of how long their turns are. Just like chess clocks, they tick down the seconds from your customizable start time. Moxtopper ensures only one player can be active at a time. • AIRPLAY — Stream your game locally via AirPlay to a compatible Apple TV by enabling Screen Mirror and using the app like you normally would. Great for going top-eight at your Local Game Store! • CHARTS — Share and remember your splashiest games with cool charts that show the roller coaster ride of life totals as they change over the course of a game. Requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or later. • HIGH ROLL — Save time by high-rolling to see who plays first with just a single tap. • APP ICONS — Bling out your homescreen with a bunch of alternate app icons. • SCRYFALL — Scryfall search box integrated into the main options menu. • MADE BY A FAN — Moxtopper is made by a fan of the game, just one guy (me, the one writing this, howdy) who really really likes artisanal, hand-made, bespoke, fussy, delightful little apps with big dreams. Seriously I appreciate all the support ya’ll send my way. WHAT IS COMMANDER? Just in case you didn’t already know, in the “Commander” format of Magic: the Gathering, you and your friends battle each other with legendary creatures, huge decks of crazy cards, making splashy plays until there’s only one player left standing.

Scan a whole binder page in one photo. Decksmith finds every card on it — nine or twelve pockets, or up to about 20 loose cards on the table — and adds them to your collection with artwork and live prices. Then build decks that check their own legality, track every game with your playgroup, and see which of your friends already owns the card you need. — A WHOLE BINDER PAGE, ONE PHOTO — • 9- and 12-pocket binder pages, or loose cards laid out any way round • Pick as many photos as you like in one go • Review everything Decksmith found on one screen before anything is imported • Missed a card? Find it by typing its name • Just opened a pack? Scan single cards live from the camera — THE DECKSMITH COMMUNITY — Magic is played together, so Decksmith is built for your playgroup. • Game tracker: life, poison and commander damage for the whole pod, a random first player, and a top row that turns to face the far side of the table • Every game is filed against the deck you played, with win rates per deck and per commander • Wishlist: track the cards you still want, priced separately from your collection • Search your friends' collections for your wishlist and see who owns which card • Follow players, browse their collections and shared decks, and search all your favorites at once • Share any deck with one tap and collect likes and comments • Friend requests, an activity feed and notifications keep you in the loop — KNOW WHAT IT'S WORTH — Live market prices in USD or EUR, kept next to what you paid — card by card and across your whole collection. — A DECK BUILDER THAT KNOWS THE RULES — Standard, Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, Vintage, Commander, Pauper and Casual. Decksmith enforces deck size and copy limits, gives your commander its own slot, validates companions and tells you the moment a deck is legal. Mana curve, card types and average mana value come automatically. — FIND ANY CARD, INSTANTLY — Search the full Magic card database or your own collection. Filter by color, rarity, type, set, mana cost, finish and double-faced cards. Sort by name, price or date added. — SMART LISTS — Save any combination of filters as a list that fills itself — trade binder, EDH staples, every foil under $5 — or curate one by hand. — YOUR CARDS, FULL SCREEN — High-resolution art, glowing borders on foils, pinch to zoom, swipe from card to card and flip double-faced cards with a tap. — IPHONE, IPAD AND THE WEB — Sign in at app.decksmith.community with your free account, and your collection, decks and lists are on any computer, always in sync with your iPhone. — PRIVACY YOU CONTROL — Scanning, your collection, prices, deck building, lists and the gallery all work without an account, and your collection lives on your device. A free account is only needed for sync, the Community and the game tracker. Then you decide what is visible: your profile, whether you can be found, and each deck public or private. Block or report anyone. Export or delete your data at any time. — NO LOCK-IN — Import CSV exports from the popular collection and deck-building sites, restore a full Decksmith backup, and export everything to a single file whenever you like. No ads. No tracking. No subscription. The Community is free to use until December 31, 2026. Card data and images provided by Scryfall. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Decksmith at none against Moxtopper's 2. Decksmith also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months). Moxtopper's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 1). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
