Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: FutureFLEX at 5.0 against American Kids's 3.8. American Kids's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (10 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
FutureFLEX holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: American Kids has 10 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
American Kids ships an update monthly, FutureFLEX every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
