Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: 研色 at 5.0 against Capture Tokyo's 4.0. 研色 also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). Capture Tokyo's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 38%) and chart position (#182 vs unranked). On ratings volume, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Capture Tokyo costs $3.99 and 研色 $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
研色 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 2 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Capture Tokyo's written reviews are positive against 38% of 研色's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Capture Tokyo ships an update every 2 months, 研色 fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
