Read, listen, and practice aloud. Pius X Catechism is an iPhone and iPad app for studying the Catechism of Saint Pius X. Read through a lesson or listen to the questions and answers, then try answering aloud without looking at the text. STUDY THE CATECHISM There are 959 study questions adapted from the traditional catechism, covering the Creed, prayer, the sacraments, the Commandments, and the virtues. Browse by lesson or search for a particular question or answer. PRACTICE ALOUD Say your answer aloud and the app checks it. If you get stuck, reveal the catechism's answer, read it aloud, and try again in a later review. You can also turn on Semantic Review, which uses AI to check whether an answer in your own words has the same meaning as the catechism's answer. LISTEN TO A CHAPTER Listen to recorded questions and answers as you follow along. Chapter audio works offline and keeps playing in the background, with playback controls on the lock screen. During practice, Voice mode reads questions and feedback aloud. You can ask it to repeat a question, read the answer, or move on without tapping the screen. REVIEW WHAT YOU'VE LEARNED Reviews adapt to your progress so you spend more time on the material you need to practice. Pick up an unfinished set where you left off, track your progress, or look back at saved answers to see what you missed. Separate learner profiles keep each person's practice history on the device. KEEP IT SIMPLE The layout is straightforward, with easy-to-read text and light and dark modes. You don't need an online account. You can read and listen offline. Spoken practice needs access to the microphone and speech recognition. Once Apple's speech assets are ready, the app can check exact answers offline too. Optional Semantic Review needs an internet connection and adult consent. It sends the text of your spoken answers through AWS to TypeSafe for checking, without sending learner names or audio. Speech recognition and AI feedback can make mistakes. Requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
