The STMEGI Foundation presents the Tanah app, which lets you read Jewish books wherever you are. The app brings together Tehillim, the Torah, the Siddur, Berachot, Pirkei Avot, Sefer Hasidim, Pirkei DeRabbi Eliezer, Mishlei Yaakov and Yalkut Yosef Shulchan Arukh. The Psalms can be read straight through, by book, by day of the week or by day of the month, as well as in the Tikkun HaKlali order, together with the prayers said before and after reading. The app is available in Russian and Hebrew. For those who wish to read in the Holy Tongue but do not know the Hebrew letters, a transliteration is provided – and it, like the translation, can be shown side by side with the original. The user can also adjust the font size and choose one of three display themes. The app includes a date converter – the user is able to see which day of the Gregorian calendar corresponds to a date in the Hebrew calendar. The user arranges the home screen themselves: prayer times, candle lighting and the end of Shabbat, the weekly Torah portion, the Tehillim of the day, blessings and prayers. What you have read can be marked with bookmarks, gathered into your own collections, and important passages can be highlighted. Prayer times and Shabbat times are also available in widgets on the Home Screen. The program does not require an internet connection; access to your location is needed to calculate the times.
