Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Tokyo Train! 2 at none against Ultimate Custom Night's 1. Tokyo Train! 2 also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Ultimate Custom Night's advantage is ratings volume (6.1K vs 1) and chart position (#12 vs unranked). On ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Tokyo Train! 2 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ultimate Custom Night has 6.1K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Ultimate Custom Night's written reviews are positive against 77% of Tokyo Train! 2's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ultimate Custom Night ships an update every 4 months, Tokyo Train! 2 fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
