Are you feeling stressed, burned out, or just not yourself? Optimal HRV is the guided biofeedback app that teaches your body to calm down — for real. Backed by a Harvard Medical School mindfulness expert and trusted by athletes worldwide. Optimal HRV pairs real HRV data with live biofeedback, so every session trains your nervous system to handle stress better — not just tells you that you're stressed. Why HRV and Biofeedback Training Work Your Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a window into how well your body handles stress, anxiety, and recovery — and biofeedback is how you train it to improve. Together, they show you what's happening inside your body, then guide you to change it in real time. With Optimal HRV, you can: • See how stressed — or relaxed — your body really is, using real HRV data. • Learn what actually helps you recover, from sleep to workouts to busy workdays. • Use live biofeedback to train your body to relax faster, right as it's happening. • Discover your own personal "perfect breathing rhythm" through guided sessions. Features You'll Actually Use • Daily Check-Ins — take a quick reading each morning, or anytime you want to see how you're doing. • Your Perfect Breathing Rhythm — a simple test finds the exact breathing pace that works best for you. • Live Feedback While You Train — a simple on-screen guide shows you when you're doing it just right. • Calming Mindfulness Sessions — guided practices created with a Harvard Medical School mindfulness expert, covering stress, anxiety, pain management, athletic performance, and more, with calming narrations in your choice of voice. • Easy-to-Read Progress — see your trends over days, weeks, and months, no data expertise needed. • Video Tutorials — learn HRV concepts and techniques at your own pace. • Make It Yours — adjust sounds, pacing, and reminders so training fits your life. • Available in 14 Languages — use Optimal HRV in your native language. • Device Testing — quickly verify if your heart rate monitor works with the app. • Great for Teams Too — employers and coaches can track group wellness together (Dashboard access needed). Why Optimal HRV Works with External Sensors (Not Apple Watch) We choose precision over convenience. Apple Watch is great for daily wellness, but Optimal HRV is built for serious HRV training. That's why we connect directly to an HRV monitor via Bluetooth — they deliver millisecond-accurate R‑R intervals that wrist sensors can't match. What that means for you: • More accurate data – better insights, better decisions. • Real-time streaming – no gaps, no guesswork. • Reliable results – trusted by athletes and coaches worldwide. About

Hummingbird Biofeedback

Features

Hummingbird Biofeedback reads the Bluetooth signal your heart-rate strap (Whoop, Polar H10, Garmin HRM, …) is already broadcasting and shows live HRV, beat by beat, on your screen. No server. No account. The strap you already own, finally fully visible — alongside real-time biofeedback for humming, meditation, breathwork, or simply sitting still. Pick a humming pattern and a pitch target moves across the screen, you hum along, and three live readouts update underneath — a real-time picture of what your nervous system is doing, not just one number. — WHAT YOU WATCH, LIVE — HRV 5-minute rolling rMSSD — the same metric used across the HRV ecosystem. Different moment of the day than your nightly score, same math. RSA Vagal depth. Every breath stretches and releases your heart rate; RSA measures how big that swing is, in milliseconds. It's the amplitude of your breath's pull on your heart — and slow, deep humming widens it. Watch it widen, breath by breath. COHERENCE Rhythm, on a 0–100 scale. How clean and orderly that wave is. When your breath and heartbeat settle into one smooth oscillation, coherence climbs toward the resonance "zone" — the difference between a flute holding one clear note and a radio stuck between stations. Why three and not one? HRV alone is jumpy, and during slow breathing it can even dip — even as the rhythm underneath gets deeper (RSA) and cleaner (coherence). The extra two metrics catch what a single number misses, so you can watch a session take shape in real time instead of guessing. What does five minutes of slow humming do to these numbers right now? What about fifteen minutes of meditation? Hummingbird is the simplest answer. — FIVE HUMMING PATTERNS — UNWIND Slow descending hum, the most-studied pattern. DRIFT Long, narrowly-descending hum with a lullaby-shaped contour. ANCHOR A held, steady pitch at a slow cadence. RESONATE Pitch and pace near the cardiovascular resonance band (~6 BPM). EXPLORE Free-form humming — no target, no prescribed cadence. — PLUS STILLNESS — Silent, mic-free biofeedback for any quiet practice — meditation, yoga nidra, body scan, pre-sleep wind-down, post-stress reset. No pitch target, no prescribed cadence. A passive expanding ring paces ~5.5 breaths/minute if you want an anchor; ignore it and the session still captures HRV, RSA, and coherence either way. Pick a 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30-minute timer (or Open) and tag the session with what you actually did, so a 6-ms rMSSD rise after "Pre-sleep" and a 6-ms rise after "Cold plunge" stay sortable in your history. Tap the (i) on any card for the design rationale and references to the published research that informed each parameter (pitch contour, range, cycle timing, session length).

The call

Optimal HRV and Hummingbird Biofeedback are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
